i will be getting some walnuts for stain...is there a way of preserving the stain...thanks

You can freeze small amounts and keep it indefinitely .Or I have just left it in a closed plastic container....it might form mold on top but you can skim that off and it still works fine. Quills

I know some of the basketry and weaving supply companies sell powdered walnut hulls for dye/stain making. Another option might be storing some of the hulls dried to make up a batch as needed. As...

Here in the Ozarks black walnuts are very plentiful.  In the fall the buyers set up processing stations here & there with machinery to rub the soft hulls off the nuts.  People get extra income...

If you strain all the pieces of hull out..it will keep a lot better without getting moldy. And if you cook it to a simmer it will keep even better, plus you will extract more dye. Quills
